In the Sea of Serenadiea, men whispered of sirens whose kiss could decide a man’s fate. If the siren judged the man to be evil, she would drag him to the deepest depths of the sea to his demise. But if she judged him good, he would awaken on the beach with a small fortune of treasure and a note asking him to do good deeds with it.
One day a siren named Reina lured a knight of the realm named Tobin into her arms. When she kissed him, she felt neither evil nor good, instead she felt something forbidden: love. Reina chose to let Tobin keep his memory of the encounter that day and left him on the beach with a small treasure chest and a note. Then she hid behind the rocks and watched as Tobin awoke. She saw him read the note, get dressed, scribe something upon it, and ride away, leaving the treasure behind. Filled with curiosity, no one had left the treasure behind before, Reina hurried to the note. It read: There is no greater treasure than you.
Tobin returned to that same spot on the beach at the same time each day for a month. Sometimes he spent hours calling out to her, waiting patiently for a reply, while Reina stayed hidden behind the rocks. Each time he called her name, her heart ached in her chest. At last, after a month, she could no longer remain in hiding. She revealed herself and called to him. When the two lovers embraced in a passionate kiss, Reina’s thoughts turned to the Transforma Ritual, a rite no siren had performed in over a thousand years. A ritual that would allow her to surrender her immortality in the sea and join Tobin on land as a mortal. Could she do it? Would she do it…
